Our region will come alive with Bickley Harvest Festival over the weekend of 6 & 7 May. Don't miss Core Cider's Fruit Picking Tour with Tractor Ride at 10.15am, 11am & 11.45am on both days. Jump on board the Apple Express for a tractor ride through the orchard! We’ll stop at the fruit trees to pick a bag of fruit and to take in the beauty of the orchard in Autumn. Our fruit is all ready for the pickin’. For part of the tour, you’ll be on foot so make sure you wear closed in shoes or even gumboots to be puddle-ready! A perfect orchard adventure for the whole family.

Wine and Cheese - A Classic Match!

But this doesn't mean that any cheese will go with any wine. As part of this year's Bickley Valley Harvest Festival, we will be hosting an experiential matching workshop so that you can try a range of Brookside wines with different cheeses to see which ones complement each other best. We will experiment with soft vs hard cheeses and white vs red wines so that you can throw together your next cheese platter with confidence. Wendy Roach with over 30 years experience in wine hospitality and expertise will host the workshop.

Is Wine Best With Cheese or Chocolate?

Come along to this workshop to discover whether wine and cheese is the best match, or whether wine and chocolate works better. As part of the Bickley Valley Harvest Festival, this workshop will be a completely experiential session where participants sample Brookside wines alongside different cheese and chocolate combinations to work out which is really most suitable. Wendy Roach with over 30 years experience in wine hospitality and expertise will host the workshop.

HAINAULT VINEYARD Wine Appreciation

TIME: Semillon Tasting 3pm; Cabernet Sauvignon tasting 4pm
Join Hainault’s owner and viticulturist Lyn Sykes as she takes you on an exploration of two of the most noble wine grape varieties, Semillon and Cabernet Sauvignon.
You will try 5 Hainault wines selected from our museum stock, plus the current release, giving you the chance to experience how the wine changes in the bottle and the impact both the season and the winemaking techniques have on the wines. Places are very limited so book early by phone or email, for what will be a fun, entertaining and educational experience.

HHH SPIRITS

Tours every hour from 10am to 4pm daily
COST $ 15pp
Participate in the now famous Bickley Harvest Festival and visit HHH Spirits to taste the gin developed on the property. You will taste 3 gins with tonic and one as a mini cocktail...yum. The glass you taste with is yours to take home. The hour experience includes a tour of how gin is made on site using the copper stills that Hilton of HHH Spirits makes.

The Bickley Harvest Festival is an event not to be missed! The Observatory will be open during the festival, giving you a chance to explore our rich history and the wonders of the universe.
Our knowledgeable guides will take you on a journey through time with guided tours of the Observatory. You will discover the Observatory’s beginnings at Mt Eliza in 1896, learn about timekeeping, and explore the museum to discover fascinating stories about the Observatory’s past and present. You’ll also have the opportunity to view the sun safely through our Solar Telescopes (weather permitting) and tour the Meridian, Astrograph & Calver Telescopes.
While at the Observatory, you can walk around the serene bush setting and try to find the hidden fairy doors. We’ll also have free activities for the kids, making it a day filled with fun and learning for the whole family.
